We need to hammer home how the vast majority of the Democrats in congress are working hard to pass legislation and how the GOCers & these two backstabbers are blocking progress. This also proves that voters also need to show up and vote in the primaries. Otherwise you wind up with the coal pusher and the sell-out.

Agreeing to "conditions" in order to obtain an interview is not necessarily journalism--it is roughly the same as paying someone to provide information or a story. Only if the reporter/writer reveals that the interview took place only after certain conditions were agreed upon, then that could feasibly count as journalism, especially if the so-called journalist also revealed what those conditions were. Only then would readers or viewers or listeners know the context of the interview and how complete the story is. So-called "journalists" also have their version of the "blue wall." They know what their colleagues are up to, they know when a competitor has cut corners or made a deal, but seldom to they "report" on each other. And yet they scream about Biden not having enough press conferences to please them. I suspect they are actually responding to pressures from their bosses (both business and editorial) to get some fire in their stories or at least get some quotes that can be used to attract readers/listeners/viewers that can perhaps create some controversy that will last over several days. And improve ratings.

Freedom of the press allows idiots to be reporters as well as smart men and women like Signorile and Maddow for example. But the idiots have seized the the headlines and memes have almost completely destroyed the ability to think critically and not fall for nonsense, as Michael says.

On the one hand, I fear that if the Democrats kill the filibuster, the Republicans will exploit it.

However, then I realize that, now that we have come this close to killing it, the Republicans (should they take the house) WILL do it.

So, I suppose it is best to go full steam ahead.

(As an aside, my biggest fear is that there is a plan afoot, by the Republicans. I think they want to keep Trump, but for a totally different reason: in keeping Trump "minimally" alive, they position their party to "appear" like the center, with Trump on the right and the Democrats on the left. I worry about this, a lot.)

Channel the ghost of LBJ.....get things done, President BIden. Make deals with Sinema and Manchin. Give them pork or whatever they want. If nothing gets done, Democrats will lose in the mid-terms and in the presidential election in 2024. We can then bury democracy for good.
