This reminds me of Dick Cheney who, although he loved his lesbian daughter, always sided with W. Busch in opposing LGBTQ rights. The hypocrisy of the GOP is unfathomable and disgraceful. They will proclaim they love their own LGBTQ relatives and then vote against them. I couldn't vote for a RepubliKKKan if there was a gun pointed at my head!

Let's not give Thompson's gay son a free pass on this. He should have uninvited his father to the wedding. The hypocritical fruit didn't fall far from the tree.

The very notion that we have to "codify" previous Supreme Court rulings through legislation is abhorrent to me, and demonstrates that the current court's right wing nut majority all committed perjury during their confirmation hearings when they expressed fidelity to the rule of law and stare decisis.

We are stuck with shameless dirtbag hypocrites like Thompson for only two years at a time, but we are stuck with the Supreme Court for life. We need to get up off our dead asses and expand the court once and for all, and get rid of DINOs like "Mansion" and Sinsomemore" in the Senate.

That is horrible. I know what that is like. My family was horribly homophobic and as soon as I was out of high school I left never to return because of the cruelty and abuse. I cannot imagine inviting a non-supportive family member to my wedding, and then having them attend. I would be worried about what they would do or say - I would be worried about what I would say to them. A mind boggling scenario

Were that me I would not have wanted my “family values” father at my wedding. That being said, I can only

hope that his son is not a Log Cabin Repukelican and votes for the Dem ticket AND lets the old man know.

I suppose I'm speaking from a place of priviledge since I am lucky enough to have elderly parents who have always been dyed-in-the-wool liberal Democrats. But if they were conservative and especially if one were in a position of power to harm my rights (and DID) I would not have them at my wedding. What am I missing here about that relationship?!?! Ugh. Gross.

Absolutely pathetic. They need to add the word Hypocrite to Websters under the definition of Republican! Does anybody get the irony of Clarence Thomas trying to defeat related standings for mixed race wedded people considering he is married to a white woman?!?

Let's just cut to the chase here, there is only one thing that wipes away any basic humanity: money. Daddy paid for the wedding and the son forgave everything. Rather sad that a happy occasion was marred by the absence of humility. You should have been around when the conservative parents swooped in after an AIDS death. Living wills were ditched if you got the wrong judge, shared leases were ignored and partners sued for the contents of a joint account. The sheer lack of a conscious means basic morals went on a walkabout.

Someone who looks like him should keep their head down and mouth shut.

How do those “people” get comfortable in their own brain and sleep at night? So twisted, convoluted and pretzeled is their so called “logic”. He should have brain pain viewable with an MRI. It minimally creates great discomfort, or anger, disappointment, apprehension, anxiety in son and son’s big day. Dad needs spine donor, if supporting son, stand up for son. Or bow out.

Call me crazy but I’m starting to think my beloved home state of Pennsylvania is in deep trouble

I see nothing unexpected here, except that we actually found out about it in near-real time.

This was especially stupid on this guy's part, since he's not only alienated those who believe in marriage equality but by attending his son's wedding, he's also alienated his base (assuming they are rational in their hate).
