Mallory McMorrow is brilliant and fearless and a powerful orator. After watching her speech I immediately went to her website and made a donation and sent her a letter thanking her for her support for LGBTQ and other groups marginalized by the GOP. I hope she rises to public office in some national position of prominence and soon. We desperately need more people like Mallory McMorrow in power!
Just last weekend I posted here that I hoped we wouldn't find out moving to Michigan was a mistake. Then the Universe (in the form of fierce warrior Mallory McMorrow) popped in to reignite my fighting spirit. Not only is she in Michigan. But she represents me and lives in the same city!! It's a very welcome sign. At least I'm taking it as a sign because it gives me energy and some hope I haven't felt in a while.
I've listened to Senator McMorrow's speech about five times and just love her! Brava, Senator! ALL dems in the US Senate should take note and stop being so mamby pamby (SP?) about these vicious GOP smears that go on daily. The dems need to call out the CRT/pedophile/inflation crap NOW. Much like Craig stated below, I also immediately donated to McMorrow's campaign.
Any of the old corpoate Democrats who still aren't moved to action by this speech should retire or get defeated in the primaries. For those who still haven't, need I remind everyone who plans on voting in the general election that they should also: VOTE IN THE PRIMARIES! Thank you!
At the risk of sounding tacky, I must say this woman has the balls that our party seems to be lacking. Let's hope some people in DC stand up and take notice, if they are at all interested in saving this Democracy!
I am so proud to see a Democrat from my state, and my sisters district in Royal Oak, MI have the courage to say what was needed to be said! She inspired me to call my Fed Senators and Reps, my local Reps, Nancy Pelosi's office and Chuck Schummers office and told them that the old politics they are playing are destroying the Democrats and pissing off their base and that we are sick of begging them to speak the hell up like Sen. Mallory McMorrow did; told them to get mad, the base has been mad and disgusted for years! Every single day the GOP hands us on a silver platter more and more crap to use against them, its never been made so easy for us to go after the GOP, yet I don't see it happening like it needs to happen. I told them I NEED to SEE them on the Sunday news programs, that the Dems need to ban together, and when we get a Manchin or Sinema, we need to call them out and blame them for the obstruction that is stopping the will of 81 million people. Maybe if we let our base know how 2 bad lying Dems are holding us back, more people will understand why its so important to gain more seats in the Senate so the will of the people is met. I begged them all to tune into Progress radio on Sirius, especially Michelangelo Signorile 3-6pm and then Dean from 6-9pm and hear the anger and frustration from their base that calls into these shows,.
In my calls I also told them that its time the older politicians of every side get the hell out (I know Thom Hartman wouldn't like that, but too bad, its the truth) and let my and the next generations have a turn, the arrogance of the leadership thinking they know best is an elite attitude that is sickening and must end NOW. I am 51, when does my generation get a turn? Our founding fathers never thought we would live as long as we do, and if they did, I believe they would've set term limits because I doubt they intended for people to get so power hungry and greedy and would stay for decades. Term limits sure would fix a lot, wouldn't it?
Mike and all, yes, McMorrow’s fiery passionate pushback speech “calling them out” is exactly what the D base has yearned for, craved, for many years already. The elected D’s rolled their eyes and dismissed last fall’s right wing latest outrage “CRT”, they did not take it squarely head on and now we look and see what real, tangible nasty-ugly unwanted things have happened since, both electively and legislatively.
Sorry to be a wet blanket but this is a perfect opportunity to see how are press covers this. I'm glad it went viral on social media but not everybody gets their news there. The press can keep this alive or not at their discretion and there isn't anything the Democrats can do about it. I've said it before, and I'll say it again it's the criticism from the press that scares Democrats more than criticism from Republicans because Republican criticism can be written off as politics, but the press can claim it's above politics and still hurt the Dems. The press that resides in the imaginations of Americans isn't the same as the press we have.
I think the sweetest part of this speech is how she's woke enough (yes, woke!) to know that her privileges as a "straight white Christian suburban mom" are a great weapon to fight back against the bigotry and cruelty that many marginalized groups are suffering right now. She said it herself, hate only wins if people with her privileges stand back and let hate win.
Mallory McMorrow is my new heroine. I seriously doubt that I could've been as civil and dignified as she was in the face of these libelous statements by the bottle-blonde Trumpery Lana Theis.
Ms. McMorrow has given the DEMS a needed bit to chew on and digest. A clarion call desperately needed to snatch back the narrative. We must assist her and the broader party in any manner necessary. I admit months ago that I made a trip to my Supervisor of Elections office to get a lay of the land for 2022, I was pleasantly surprised that 2020 status quo is still in place here in fascist Florida, but all bets are off post November. I plan to volunteer but it will be via public transportation as I have no car.

I had hoped the Biden Admin. had learned the lesson that Obama let the right wing control the narrative, but nope, they are still a bunch of wuzzies. We need more outspoken progressive verbally articulate leaders in the Democratic Party not only to play defense but to mount a persuasive offense against The Party of Hate, the RepubliKKKlans, in order to secure their majorities in both houses of Congress and start winning back some statehouses from the treasonous GOP, the Party of Liars, Haters and Fascists.
