Did you see the article in the current issue of Mother Jones? It features Stuart Stevens and his book. Very engrossing article. Makes so much sense. https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2020/08/racism-republican-party-stuart-stevens/

I still have an emotional hangover from the Republican Convention which I didn’t even watch but the clips and sound bites are very draining.

One of my pet peeves is that Ivanka Trump now calls her father the “People’s President”.

Have been looking at the 538 polls daily which look encouraging but I will never fully trust them post 2016.

One thing for sure, there have been many "shady" presidents, but 45 takes the cake in using and modifying their playbooks to get reelected. Didn't like Reagan as an actor, old reruns, didn't like him as governor of California and certainly didn't like him as prez. But, one thing I feel, definitely not trying to, is that 45 just might pull a win in November with his continued unchecked underhanded lying, trickery and evil. Doing what I can to stay afloat as the Democratic party upholds fighting tooth and nail to turn this madness of a government around.

It's sad to feel like the full weight of saving this, the world's oldest democracy (flaws and all), always falls on the shoulders of those of us who would be viewed collectively as "the least of these". The poor, the LGBTQ, the minorities, the religiously persecuted, the students, those without jobs to those working 3 jobs, the immigrant, and all other manner looked down upon by the political right. They claim a false ownership of both the flag and patriotism, yet, they are the ones welcoming foreign interference in our elections. They are the ones ignoring flagrant violations of the rule of law like the orgy of Hatch Act violations last week. They are the ones who couldn't care less about Trump's shameless capitulation on the world stage to a former KGB agent; to turning our backs on troops with bounties on their heads; to the battlefield abandonment of our Kurdish allies; to the murder of a US resident journalist by Saudi agents; to openly bribing a foreign government to manufacture dirt on a political opponent; and to the destruction of NATO which has been the cornerstone of our security for almost 80 years. In the face of all that, here we are again, having to ride to the rescue.

It's beyond tiring because as I said earlier, we have to get it right everytime. The last two lapses on our part got us Bush and Trump with the obligatory 20 year war and Guantanamo from Bush, and authoritarian rule from Trump.

It's clear to me that if Trump and his supporters have their way, we may not ever have another "fair" election as we would recognize it. That's why if we pull Biden and down ballot Democrats across the finish line this time we cannot settle for a "normal" administration. EVERYTHING has to change. They play by a different rule book. We have to as well. That doesn't mean that we lie and cheat like they do, but it does mean we throw out the Jim Crow era filibuster, we impeach and remove the likes of Brett Cavanaugh, we stack the Supreme Court to get the majority that we're rightly entitled to but were denied by McConnell, and do popular things like create a universal basic income, and tax corporations so that we can eliminate them on the poor and working class.

If we just play another tennis game of serve and volley with Republicans and not give working class and poor whites something tangible to vote for rather than default to their race driven anxiety, we'll be right back here again. I focus on this group because they are the only ones keeping the GOP in business. If they defect, we can finally focus on improving the lives of people, and pay much less attention to corporations.

This is our last chance to get it right. Trust me when I say that the next American fascist (version 2.0) will come with less bombast, better hair, and a more powerful Putin chairing the foreign chapter of the GOP. We'll look like a former Soviet state with dissidents in the streets haplessly trying to restore a representative government in the face of tanks, and a completely rigged electoral system. If Biden wins we'll have 4 years to change this frightening picture, but only if we learn to fight for the average person with the ferocity that Trump makes his base believe he's fighting for them.

I just want to scream and throw something at the TV set.... We should start calling the GOP the WSP (White Supremacy Party) I found out that Arizona mails their ballots out October 7. I certainly hope that I get mine in time to vote. This WSP needs to be destroyed. I hope the majority of us white folks votes these guys out. Come on people, they will com e for you next.(Social Security benefits-gone....Medicare-gone) We are all human beings and we all want the freedoms, justice and the pursuit of happiness for all)

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a nice, quiet weekend after that horror-shit-show from last week, (The Trump-show) starring the sweaty-orange-monster! Here in West-Hou we were lucky to dodged Laura, but Louisiana residents, not so lucky. My thoughts and prayers are with all the people affected by the hurricane and victim of police brutality and Kenosha and Portland. I would disagree a little whenever comparing Reagan / Nixon v. the sweaty piece of shit currently residing at the White House. Yes, Nixon and Reagan were bad, but this asshole in the White House thinks he's God, dictator-wanna-be, the chosen one, and he's a f@#$% monster. The division, the hate, the ongoing lies, lies, lies, I mean, Nixon and Reagan are just shaking their heads in disgust/disbelief about this asshole. At least Nixon/Reagan were American corrupted presidents, the asshole, the Con Man, the Cheat, the liar, the racist in the White House was put there by Russians. The Russian Puppet!!!

Mr. Stevens' book is an important read, but ultimately, has arrived far too late to repair the death blows our democracy has suffered.

I was stupid enough to believe Reagan's lies the first time and voted for him. I was not that stupid during his reelection. I am just surprised it took the GOP this long to find the perfect puppet. They takk, about a shadow government because that is exactly what they instituted when Reagan was in office. It was obvious that he was suffering from advanced Altzimers. But he was still able to read from a teleprompter. We were duped then and we are being duped now. They are doing their dirty work while we pay attention to the idiot in chief.

Well getting ready for your show, listen while I paint. I would like to encourage people to donate today to a Senate Democratic candidate. It’s their last day of fundraising for this month. Pick one or more—Gideon, Kelly, Bullock, Hickenlooper, Harrison, etc. Send them whatever you can. We MUST take back the Senate!

The New York Times is reporting that the caravan of trump supporters were the protesters and the real protesters that have been protesting for 70+ days as the counterprotesters. What is up with that?

Richard Nixon committed treason with Vietnam before his election. Ronald Reagan committed treason with Iran before and after the election. George HW Bush likely committed treason with Iran/Contra but Bill Barr saw to it that he'd get away with it. Dubya and Cheney are war criminals and Trump is a felonious traitor. If you vote Republican you support these things.

That's not to endorse Democrats, by the way. They tend to be place holders and mess cleaners while doing nothing much. We need to stop Trump so voting for Biden is a necessary evil. After that, we need to stop electing "moderate" Democrats or start a new party that will actually do something. Biden/Harris/Pelosi et al will clean up the mess then do little to nothing until the next treasonous Republican gets elected. It's time to let the DNC know that simply NOT being a Republican isn't enough any more.

Michael while I agree that Reagan's imprimatur was all over the ridiculous, illegal spectacle which was the RNC, I think DJT's actions mirror the Nixon philosophy regarding violence in the streets and a heavy handed police approach to violence being perpetrated by right wing elements, as they blame peaceful BLM protestors. We need to take back our government with a very

large ground swell of support of people who are exercising their right to free speech and start calling out more those radical elements who don't represent our side!
