As we've learned, national polls are fairly meaningless. It's all about the Electoral College where the margins are still painfully narrow. There is still a disconcertingly high number of older LatinX men supporting Trump, and many Senate races are unbelievably close. I would urge your readers to phone bank for Senate races and donate if possible to House races in Texas. I am heartened that 1) federal courts are largely holding, 2) the FBI took decisive measures against the increasingly radicalized white supremacist groups, and 3) thus far, voter turnout has been relatively promising.

Got my ballot in the mail yesterday! Will vote and drop off tomorrow, hopefully—there are a lot of ballot measures in California and the voter’s pamphlet is like a small phone book. I actually can’t believe it’s almost here, Dean has been giving the countdown for four years and seemed so far away for so long. Really encouraged, but agree we need to donate and phone bank for the Senate races. I think some people who may have Voted for him in 2016 have finally had it with his completely useless response to COVID. I am hopeful! Otherwise, glorious clear day in SoCal. We’ll enjoy one more day of Joe Sudbay, he gets the most funny characters calling in when you’re gone. Stay safe!

I live in a beach city outside of Los Angeles. Yesterday when I went to get my paper I saw my Biden sign is gone! I hope who ever took it just really loves Biden too! But I fear that wasn’t the case. I love hearing about the Republican signs voting for Biden. That’s fantastic!!

Trump supporters are not as boistrous as they were a year ago. You rarely see a MAGA hat or a Trump shirt in public around here. Most wear masks and those that are proudly pro Trump seem to relegate themselves to Social Media. Few yard signs, few bumper stickers... I don't see this valley voting for Biden but it is heartening to note that there has been a deepening shame felt about still supporting Trump. He will get the fear vote; how significant that will be is yet to be seem. I live in a Red part of California so their votes won't count because the Electoral College effectively disenfranchises those who don't vote with the majority from the Presidential decision. What surprises me is that so many are willing to give up part of their franchise for a victory decided by the minority.

WA state voting by mail ballots don't arrive until October 14th! I think they should be sent out earlier but at least our state will be voting for Biden as a majority as Western WA dominates the outcome.

Ballot arrived here too - it felt like Christmas! I work with the public every day, and fortunately I don't encounter many trumpers, but last week I did. I could tell by the Californians for Trump hat he was wearing. Unsolicited he went on about how "things are going to happen", and that food shortages were coming, and that he even went out and bought a gun to protect himself. It took everything I had not to engage (because I was working), but strangely, he also had this naive vibe about him. Like, he was falling in line reluctantly. He was loud and boisterous about somethings, and timid at times when he was talking to me. It was the weirdest thing.
