A new and extensive report written by faith leaders, scholars, journalists and advocates, shows the involvement of Christian nationalists in the January 6th insurrection, a domestic terrorist attack on our government. But what and who exactly are “Christian nationalists,” and why do they pose a threat to democracy moving forward?

Katherine Stewart is one of the prominent contributors to the new report, which was sponsored by the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty and the Freedom From Religion Foundation. Stewart studies Christian nationalism as a political movement, and is the author of The Power Worshipers: Inside the Dangerous Rise of Religious Nationalism.
