As yet another reporter's book is published...in this case, Michael Schmidt's book, which seemingly does little more than confirm leaks reported at the time, I wonder for the 5,000th time why no one has written a book slamming the media itself for its mostly shoddy reporting over the past 5 years. They failed to vet Trump, Rosenstein, Barr, Mueller, Senators who went to Moscow on July 4th. They failed not only to call out Trump's lies but to clearly report the 'why' behind the lies. They failed to connect the dots in the public domain to newly emerging stories. They failed to contextualize Trump's actions in historical terms or to paint a broader narrative of the powers at play behind the scenes. Trump doesn't lie just to lie, there is a strategy = there has always been a strategy. Instead, the media has played the 'reaction game' for 5 years, and they will continue to do so no matter who wins in 2020. We need to understand why and how the 'Maggie Habermans, Chuck Todds, Petter Bakers, Michael Schmidts' of the journalism world have risen to the top, and why this is one of the strongest signs of a failed democracy. I hope someone writes that book...
There was never any support of this administration of LGBTQ rights. It’s the same farce as their support of African-Americans, women, our military, and all of the disenfranchised in this country.
I was a child in the 60s and I remember the events that shaped that era. As a little Black girl, I was aware but felt safe. My great-grandfather was still alive and he was a man I adored, a man born to
my great-great grandmother who was raped by a slave-owner when she was 14 years old. Yet never never did any member of my family speak poorly of non-Blacks. I was raised to be color-blind and to treat ALL people kindly.
Now I live in fear every single day. Fear for my family; fear for my friends who are LGBTQ or from non-White ethnicities. All due to the bigots who voted this lunatic and his enablers into office and continue to put them on a pedestal while they tear down every good thing about this country.
For the persons who are continuing to support these monsters, they are not merely conservatives; they are not Christians; they are not “perfectly fine people”: they are heinous monsters who are perfectly fine with flushing their own country, the United States of America down the toilet.
Pence’s looming shadow over the Liar-in-Chief, should be enough evidence that any so called “endorsement” of LBGTQ+ by this administration is pure fakery, Pence is so vehemently terrified of even the appearance of gay support, and I am sure his evangelist supporters have threatened to withdraw their support should even the hint of positive endorsement of the gay community.
