How is this leadership?

Thursday thread: McCarthy caves to the extremists after losing six times.

After two days that consisted of six ballots in with Rep. Kevin McCarthy failed to get the votes to become Speaker or the House, reports this morning say he is caving in to the demands of the 21 who have voted against him.

Under the new concessions one House member would be able to call a vote to remove him, while the extremists would have more power on committees and have a greater presence on the Rules Committee, which decides if legislation gets to the floor for a vote. And there’s a lot more.

How is this in any way leadership, and how does McCarthy retain the power of the Speaker of the House to corral lawmakers in his caucus to come together — sometimes with intense pressure — if they can just remove him at any time or decide bills are not getting to the floor?

Why would anyone what this job? Or, more pointedly, what does it say about McCarthy that he would take this job?
