Michel, right on the money, unfortunately. While I do appreciate Mr. Powell for his military service, he did also do a great disservice for the military by allowing Cheney and Rumsfeld to railroad him into lying us into Iraq. The cost and toll in blood and treasure is insurmountable and has lead to the rise of ISIS and even more dangerous ideologies in what is the powder keg of the Middle East. His apology, I'm sure, did resolve his conscious somewhat, but I can't imagine how he must have felt about the monstrosity of his decision initially. May he rest in peace.

Funny how FAUX news wants us all to focus on anti-vax paranoia and sweep Colin Powell's lies about the Iraq war under the rug since that is what made them a shit-ton of money.

Hey Mike,

9 times out of 10 I agree with you, but on this I have to disagree. Well, one thing I agree with is the republican revisionist movement when it comes to facts and history. Colin Powell was more than just the Iraq War. He was a devoted, honorable American who came from nothing and eventually became Secretary of State. I don’t remember any other person in the failed Bush administration apologizing for the lies to start a dead-end War in Iraq. He went on to become a strong advocate for President Obama and President Biden. I would have actually considered voting for him if he had run for President. I think he would have been above all the Republicans stupid wedge issues like abortion, immigration and equal rights for POC and the LGBTQ community, and he would have made a great President. People in government make mistakes that cost lives and it is horrible and dangerous, but Powell, I believe, was an honorable American. He believed in this country and the morals and values we are fighting for right now.
