Maggie Haberman is a Trump shill who did everything she could to get him elected, and everything she could to help him stay in office throughout his impeachments. It's not surprising, given her mother's role doing PR for the Trump family a while back, but she never should have been given the job at the Times.

Of course, the NYT is its own set of Trump problems....

Trump may not have been as anti-LGBTQ+ as other Republicans in the past (I remember him holding the Pride flag upside down in one election event), but he has definitely jumped on the bandwagon of attacking trans people and drag queens in order to rile up his mindless ignorant hateful base voters. I'm not sure what's worse: someone who actively hates and attacks our community or someone who goes along with attacking our community because it's suits him politically...

Thanks for pointing out all these inconsistencies with The Times and Maggie Haberman. The NYTimes has often been inconsistent and way late to the table on LGBTQ issues historically. Hardly an ally. When they have been supportive it’s only happened only when it was safe. It reminds me growing up in Queens and Manhattan when we were constantly targeted , daily. When I came out in 1975 in high school there was 1 group for lgbtq teens in all 5 boroughs for support. NYC as the rest of the country was extremely homophobic. Albeit for night life. ( where one could hide) , Bloomingdale’s, Fiorucci and Serendipity and be someone at night that they wouldn’t dare be at a job. History and facts matter. NYC was hardly a bastion of progressiveness. Look how long it took NYC to pass a sexual orientation bill. It occurred in 1988. After nearly 50 cities had passed their own bills. Haberman and the Times like Cardinal O’Conner and the city council members from Brooklyn consistently thwarted any attempts at progress in NYC and the NYTimes until it was only safe was not an ally. . That as well as the control of the legislature y upstate Republicans specifically noted homophobe Alphonse D’Amato. He made sure no + legislation would ever get out of committee for years. It’s sad that we are headed right in that very same direction. Fortunately we have way more support now then we did then socially and institutionally. However the intensity of the hate is very reminiscent of that time

I find this old piece triggered my PTSD recalling how the norms during his ill gotten tenure were ticked off one by one as the MSM normalized a clearly intellectually deficient buffoon. This puff piece clearly blasted out "I need access to pad my bank account" We all learned later that her books were nothing more than the literary equivalent of a gay porn fluffer.

For the longest time, the New York Times and other media were reluctant to even use the word "lie" to describe DT's lies. Many are still doing it.

Haberman “...faints with damned praise”. She seems to have gradually slid (revealed) to a position as a subtle shill - an apologist who attempts to smooth rational, concerned humans into Trumpmania-land. I think of her as a Trump-pimp.
