Well, certainly, it is not equivalent in anyway to what Trump did. Trump stole hundreds of docs and was asked several times to return them and didn’t - However, I really don’t understand why all these sensitive documents are in peoples homes, offices, etc. This is inexcusable in my view. As a former small government employee for 23 years you are to take NOTHING home. If you were taking anything for field work, you had to fill out a form and submit it. I don’t understand the recklessness with our top-secret information. The difference between Trump supporters and Democrats that we do hold everyone accountable to the same standard. I don’t know why Biden had them, I appreciate that they were returned immediately without being asked for them. But I do have a concern that they were in unsecure locations.

Thanks to the Democrats (K. Gillibrand), Al Franken resigned. Now Dick Durban is criticizing Biden. Meanwhile, every sleazebag con artist and liar is sitting in the GOP Congress. If the Dems keep it up, there won't be any Dems left. GOP continues to kiss the rump of the orange Nazi. The Dems have turned into GOP Lite and the GOP is now the Fascist Party of America.

Here we go again into a minefield laid out by domestic terrorists who no longer care for a multiracial democracy: corporate media. When the supremacist court allowed Faux News to get a license after saying it was entertainment, the die was cast. Propaganda was allowed to flourish so that the gop (unpopular among the population) could continue to keep power even though federally they told the people kiss their ass. The genie is out of the bottle. Durbin and Manshit cannot be allowed on the high road now that defending Democrats vociferously is beyond them.

I loved this comment by "Matella" on a Washington Post comment thread:

"Let's see: after 36 years in the U.S. Senate and eight years as Vice President, deeply and continuously involved in foreign policy, Joe Biden has been discovered to have some twenty documents with classified markings in storage at three locations, and has promptly returned them to the National Archives. After FOUR years as President, Donald Trump is discovered to have some THREE HUNDRED classified documents in his possession, including some in storage and some in his personal office and desk. Upon repeated requests to return said documents to the National Archives, Trump has (a) denied he possessed them, (b) claimed he had "declassified them" in his mind, (c) argued that they were planted by FBI agents searching his premises, and (d) argued that they are actually rightfully his possessions and not subject to government control. Which person has acted responsibly?"

Absolutely ridiculous to compare. It seems pretty obvious that the people who packed up Biden (and now Pence) erred in their work. The difference with the Orange Monster is that he said "the documents are mine and I'm going to keep them"! Not even close, you're right Michelangelo Durbin and Manchin are playing to the DC punditry, which might come back to bite them in the ass!

Clearly, we need to rehaul the process when administrations transition out of the presidency. Jeez louise, it's beyond embarrassing that more care isn't taken with sensitive documents. The National Archives needs to be overseeing this more strongly.

That being said, I agree with everyone here that there is zero equivalency between Biden and Trump here. It's cooperation on one side and obstruction on the other. I also don't believe that there will be any top secret documents in Biden's possession. We all know trump's plan was to profit off the stuff he took (he probably already has) and I've also been reading how trump was attempting to negotiate a trade for some of the documents he took for documents related to the Russia probe - OMG, he's deranged.

I do find it absolutely delicious that Pence has classified documents after acting holier than though since November about how he'd NEVER EVER take these documents. You just cannot make this stuff up. I was laughing during the broadcast yesterday as Michelangelo played Fox's The Five with that idiot Jesse screaming about how Pence messed it all up for them and implying Pence should have just destroyed the documents. Comical yet really disturbing.

As for the media, they're all beyond reprehensible but it doesn't help when people like Durbin bow to them. I think Rho Khanna has been doing the same if I remember correctly. Let's face it, as long as news is "infotainment", we're screwed. News should not be a profit making industry but thanks to Reagan getting rid of the Fairness Doctrine (Brian Karem has a great book about this), it's the wild wild west and Rupert Murdoch has become a worldwide mogul because of it.

All true. Thank you. Great piece. So and too overwhelming. It’s frustrating and maddening. It feels it’s all coming to a head and crescendo. My husband and I have no illusions. We have a plan B and C. Attack and de legitimize the media no historical context. Repeat non stop lies bingo. People being marginalized and killed. Sad but true

Mike you should have heard me during your Monday show. I kept vociferously agreeing “Yes YES, you are SO f%*#@“!!! right !!!”, when condemning D’s for not supporting Biden, for not laying it out with all of DT’s 10,000 times worse INTENTIONAL criminalities FIRST, then Biden’s accidental pack up an office and someone toss such in a box and it was forgotten. Delicious that classified dox were found in Pence home, then we witnessed R world faces deflating like a sad soufflé. Reforming the National Archives so they are sure to go after missing documents much like a public library goes after outstanding books is “overdue”. The mamby-pamby D’s who keep bringing pool noodles to a switchblade fight are plain infuriating. DT’s attitude is just like Daffy Duck on this clip, https://youtube.com/watch?v=RKMNPQ35OUc&feature=share

Pence looked like he was lying when asked in that ABC interview if he took any classified documents home. He hesitated and said no but was nodding his head. Still, nothing either Pence or Biden did compares with what TFG did.

You are absolutely right. There is no high ground in promoting, even in a small way, a false equivalency. The GOP is not going to play be any rules that are based on “fairness.” The ONLY hope of showing that we’re right is to repeatedly start with the wrong that’s been done. And this doesn’t just apply to classified documents.

Let’s see how the media treats the Pence discovery: crippling problem as they claim for Biden or meh, as they boast about every GOP criminal wrongdoing.

The Evangelicals have chosen Old Testament wrathful God and the Democrats have chosen to follow the teachings of a martyr. The press does an excellent job of reminding the Democrats to be kind and tolerant of the GOP and playing on the religious guilt of Democratic pacifists that they could have done more to save the GOP.

I think it's OK for Democratic politicians, in fact it's smart, for them to criticize Biden for having classified documents in his home and office. But after they say this, it's vital they jump to emphasizing the difference between Biden, and now Pence, neither of whom made any effort to keep or conceal these classified documents...as opposed to Trump, who resisted returning, and lied about having said documents.
