Great closing line. I am so tired of our collective chains being yanked by the ignorant and the MEEEE crowd. This pandemic could have been controlled with the roll out of the vaccine but no. The University of YouTube "experts", libertarians like Rand Paul and opportunists like the nutty anti-vax community are busy undermining the nation's health. I find myself having to educate even educated family how long the SARs virus has been studied for vaccines as opposed to the polio and smallpox vaccinations we all got, and how advance scientific platforms for study are as opposed to then. Maybe the only answer is to keep educating and chipping away at the ignorance. As soon as I can, I will be getting the booster.
He is wrong when he says he didn't know if the imaginary person he mentioned got COVID 19 from the vaccine. You cannot get the virus from an inactivated vaccine. In this case, it's a synthetic oligonucleotide which is a piece of DNA which is something that stimulates an immune response in order to create antibodies to the virus. As a scientist I can say again what I've said before, we have been working on Coronaviruses for 10+years, so his claim that we don't know about this vaccine is crazy (remember SARS?). Work on that began prior to the Obama administration (2008). With 3 billion people vaccinated in the world there are very few cases of break through infection (less than 5% at worst). This is a medical issue, not a political issue. <SIGH> Only COVID can fix stupid :-). Happy weekend all!
The anti-vaccine “cult” is a big & dangerous game being played out there in the political arena with deadly and enduring consequences, this anti-vaccine stance has highlighted the naïveté of the US voters and the selfishness of the minority in this country. James declared that he got COVID-19 and stated that he subsequently received the vaccination. We can speculate as to how many friends, family members & strangers he infected, and of course, the question remains what motivated him to finally receive the vaccination…..he was not ready to face death, pure & simple.
When my kids entered the school system, they were required to have a physical examination and a list of vaccinations. This form had to be signed by a physician. Why is a vaccine mandate such a big deal. Individual freedom is a good thing, but not when it interferes with the freedom of the rest of society. When is this GQP fueled stupidity going to end?
